Early Life and Family Background:
Mahendra Rajput was born on April 5th, 1990 to a middle-class family in Dhule village, Maharashtra, India. He was an avid cricket fan who competed in numerous state-level tournaments before being forced to retire due to financial difficulties. Mahendra began working at a young age to help his family with financial issues.
Adulthood:
Coach Jitu Thakre introduced him to kabaddi and encouraged him to participate because of his height. Mahendra began practicing the sport as a way to pass the time. Rajput practiced sports day and night, even though he was an unscholarly student. He had a terrible time practicing and working. Because of kabaddi, he was unable to pass the 10th grade Board Exam. Mahendra was quickly selected for Maharashtra’s state squad and went on to represent the state at the national level.

He was an enthusiastic cricket fan before switching to kabaddi, and he competed in multiple state-level competitions before being forced to resign owing to financial troubles.
Kabaddi Career:
- Bengal Warriors purchased Mahendra in the first PKL season and kept him for the next three seasons. He had 21 raid points in eight games during the season.
- He got 55 raid points in 12 matches in the second season of the PKL, including three Super Raids and two Super 10s.
- During the third and fourth seasons, he was primarily benched and scored a total of 26 points.
- He was released by Bengal Warriors in the fifth season due to his poor performance but was purchased by Gujarat Fortune Giants. Coach Manpreet Singh recognized Mahendra’s potential and purchased him for the season.
- During the Giants’ fifth season, he emerged as a game-changer. With 57 raid points in 17 matches and three Super Raids, he set a new record for raid points.
- Mahendra was retained by the team for the following season, scoring 28 raid points in 13 games, including three Super Raids. After a 7-point raid in a match against U Mumba, he received national attention.
- Unfortunately, he did not appear in PKL season 7.
