Early Life and Family Background

Manjeet was born on the 18th of July, 1986 into a middle-class Jat family in Nizampur, Delhi, India. He had a passion for wrestling since he was a boy, having been inspired by the villagers and his cousins. Manjeet began competing in wrestling shortly after.

Adulthood

Once, he seriously hurt his nose during wrestling, forcing him to stop wrestling and instead practice kabaddi with his friends. He chose to make a career out of kabaddi and began training professionally soon after. After being selected for the Senior National Kabaddi Team, this derailment became a godsend for him. In 2010, he was a key member of the Indian team that won gold at the Asian Games. At the 2014 Asian Games, he repeated his achievement.
