Early Life and Family Background

Monu was born in Kungar Village, Bhiwani District, Haryana, India, on the 16th of October 1992. Vijendra Singh, one of his uncles, was a former kabaddi player, and his family was passionate about the sport. Hence, Monu began playing kabaddi when he was ten years old, inspired by his uncle’s kabaddi talents and interests. Monu’s fascination with the sport was sparked by his uncle.

He began practicing the sport soon after, with his uncle as his coach. He continued to train and compete in local tournaments, but after joining the military, his career took on a new lease on life. Coach Jasvir Singh afterward taught him how to play. Monu’s first international medal came in the Asian Games in 2018. Goyat contributed to the Indian team’s gold and bronze medals at the Dubai Kabaddi Masters in 2018.

  • Monu began his Pro Kabaddi League career as a member of the Bengal Warriors’ fourth-season roster.
  • He became a key scorer for the team in the fourth season of the PKL, with 59 raid points and four tackle points in 13 games. Monu finished the season as one of the top 15 raiders.
  • For the fifth season, the Patna Pirates bought Monu Goyat. He has his best raid score of 191 points and 11 tackle points in 26 games for the Pirates.
  • Monu has signed for a record-breaking price of Rupees 1.51 crore by Haryana Steelers in the sixth season. With three Super Raids and ten Super 10s, he gained 164 points in 20 games.
  • For the seventh season, Monu was released by the Haryana Steelers. In 14 games for U.P Yodha, he scored 65 raid points and 5 tackle points for a total of 93 lakhs.
  • In the 2021 PKL season, Monu was purchased to play for Patna Pirates.
